2017 Patrol Campouts in March

Now is the time to start planning your March Patrol campouts.  Each patrol should plan and schedule their own campout.  You may have your campout anytime during the month of March.

This is your time to get creative and do some of the things that are of special interest to your patrol members and that may be easier to accomplish with a smaller group.  Have fun, do something unusual, and take pictures.

We want pictures and videos of your adventures.

2017 Trappers Rendezvous Campout

The first campout of 2017 will be to “Trappers Rendezvous” on January 13-15th.  The event has roughly 6500 scouters and centers around the boys trading items (swap meet) and many other activities.  Read the Trapper’s Herald Guide which provides a lot of information about the weekend.

This is the first trip for our Troop to Trappers.  This is an annual event held at Harvey County Park, near Hutchinson or Newton Kansas.  The address for the park office is 2731 West Park Rd. Burrton KS 67020 (this will get you close) GPS location: 38.08686 N 97.58301 W

Check out the Facebook page for the event also:  https://www.facebook.com/TrappersRendezvous

2016 SPL Elections

We are looking for the next Senior Patrol Leader to lead the troop during the next 6 months through Bartle summer camp.

We will be holding the election at the scout meeting on December 19.

If a scout is interested, they must at least be of a Star rank and be prepared with answers to the following questions:

1. What is your name, rank, and how long have you been in the troop?
2. What makes you a good leader for Troop 459?
3. How will you increase interest in meetings and campouts?
4. What improvements will you make for the troop?
5. How will you help with rank advancements among scouts?
6. How will you increase turnout and recruit new scouters?

Remember to bring a sleeping mat, the thicker the better, a sleeping bag and water bottle.

Bring money for lunch or a sack lunch.  The Troop will provide dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday. (more…)
