Harvest Hustle

Harvest Hustle, a Morse Elementary PTO fundraiser, is a mother and son night full of Minute to Win it challenges and other fun activities. It requires 40+ student volunteers. These volunteers are able to log 3 community service hours and what a fun way to clock those hours! (more…)

Eagle Court of Honor

Troop 459 held an Eagle Court of Honor on the 15th of July, we had three more scouts achieve the rank of Eagle! Congratulations to Connor Price, Ethan Butler, and Mark Walters.

Scouting Night at Sporting KC

Scouts and their families can get discounted tickets for this game.  Please wear your Scout Class A uniform.  You must be wearing your Class A uniform to participate in on-field activities that will be offered to Scouts only that night.

2017 Summer Eagle Court of Honor

Our summer Eagle Court of Honor is coming up. Please attend in your Class A uniform and help us honor our new Eagle Scouts and their families.

Where: Colonial Presbyterian Church, 12501 137th St, Overland Park, KS 66221
When: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 15th

Spring Court of Honor

We had a great Spring Court of Honor. We held it outside at the pavilion. We had 2 scouts earn Scout rank, 4 scouts earn First Class, 3 scouts earn Star, and two scouts earn Life.

We also had 2 Eagle Scouts awarded and a Gold Palm handed out to an Eagle Scout.

Three scouts earned the Nova award for STEM and one scout earned the World Conservation Award.

2017 Scout Sunday Pancake Breakfast

We will be serving a pancake breakfast at the Colonial campus on Scout Sunday.  Please make sure you come out and help.  This is a great opportunity for service hours and to let other youth at the Church know about us.  Wear your Class A uniform and look your best.

Where: Colonial Presbyterian Church, Quivira campus
When: Sunday, February 5th
Time: 8:00 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. (breakfast served from 9:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m.)

2016 SPL Elections

We are looking for the next Senior Patrol Leader to lead the troop during the next 6 months through Bartle summer camp.

We will be holding the election at the scout meeting on December 19.

If a scout is interested, they must at least be of a Star rank and be prepared with answers to the following questions:

1. What is your name, rank, and how long have you been in the troop?
2. What makes you a good leader for Troop 459?
3. How will you increase interest in meetings and campouts?
4. What improvements will you make for the troop?
5. How will you help with rank advancements among scouts?
6. How will you increase turnout and recruit new scouters?


2017 Merit Badge Forum

Signup for the 2017 Merit Badge Forum is now open.

The Merit Badge Forum is an event organized by the district each year to give scouts an opportunity to earn up to three merit badges of their choosing. Scouts can take anywhere from one to three classes, two of which can be Eagle required. It is structured in a classroom style, with scouts working under a merit badge counselor to perform as many of the requirements as possible in that setting. Classes are held on three Saturday mornings.

When: January 28, February 11 and 25, 2017 (all on Saturdays) 9 a.m. – 12 p.m (note this year’s classes are morning sessions)
Where: Saint James Academy – 24505 Prairie Star Parkway, Lenexa (note this is a new location this year)
Cost: $ 8.00 total per Scout (NOT per class)
How to Sign Up:  Fill out the attached form and return to David Harris with $8 payment (made out to troop 459).  Note that depending on interest and availability of counselors, not all of the classes may be offered.


You can get this to David:

  1. Give to him in person at 11/21/16 troop meeting.
  2. Email completed form to (payment can be mailed or given at a troop meeting)
  3. Print out and mail completed form with check to:

Registration and payment will handled all at once, at the troop level on December 3.  Please have your completed forms and payment to David Harris before December 1 so that we can make sure all of the paperwork is in correctly.

After the district schedules the classes, we will let you know your individual schedules.
